The results of a virtual meeting this week could determine whether the owner of a Jersey City property will be allowed to move forward with plans to build a four-story development.
An application by Jignesh Sheth involving 37 Storms Avenue is scheduled to go before the Jersey City Zoning Board of Adjustment during a Zoom hearing this Thursday, October 22 at 6:30 p.m.
Sheth submitted an application seeking preliminary and final major site plan approval with variances. The application shows that no “affordable housing units” would be created as part of the project.
It is not yet clear whether the proposed development would consist of 11 or 12 units. The agenda for Thursday’s meeting states that 12 units are planned, but the hearing notice and architectural plans describe an 11-unit project. The number “11” in the developer’s application appears to have been partially handwritten in two separate places, with another part of the document stating that there would be nine one-bedroom units and two two-bedroom units.
A dozen parking spaces would be provided on the premises, which are situated between Monticello and Fairmount Avenues a few blocks away from McGinley Square. The property is currently vacant, but it previously contained a two-story house. Municipal filings show that a demolition permit was issued back in September 2018.
