A Jersey City block that has already seen considerable development might get yet another residential project depending on the results of an upcoming hearing.
TRG Academy, LLC wants the Jersey City Planning Board to grant preliminary and final site plan approval for their plans for 177 Academy Street near Journal Square.
During its Zoom meeting on Tuesday, October 13 at 5:30 p.m., the board is scheduled to hear the firm’s proposal, which involves constructing a six-story building with 50 residential units and rooftop terraces.
The application mentioned that there would be 18 studios, 28 one-bedroom units, and 18 two-bedroom units, which adds up to 64, but the document said there would be a total of 50 units. None would be “affordable housing units.”
Although Manhattan-based Titanium Realty Group’s name was not mentioned directly in the application, the phone number listed for TRG Academy, LLC is the same number that appears on Titanium’s website. Titanium’s online portfolio also includes a rendering of a six-story 50-unit project on Academy Street that appears to be at the location listed in the application.
Located between Summit Avenue and Baldwin Avenue, the site that is being referred to as 177 Academy Street consists of portions of the 177-175 and 181 Academy Street parcels, according to a public notice. These properties include a house and a private surface parking lot.
Note to readers: The dates that applications are scheduled to be heard by the Jersey City Planning Board and other commissions are subject to change.
