The void left by Burger Eatery’s departure from 238 First Street will soon be filled by a Mexican street-food-style restaurant, as renovations are underway to bring Tacoria to Chilltown.
The restaurant, not to be confused with local staple Taqueria Downtown on nearby Grove Street, has three existing locations in New Brunswick, Montclair, and Princeton, with another coming to 52 South Street in Morristown later this year. The eatery claims to be “inspired by the streets of Mexico City and taco trucks in San Diego,” uses farm-raised meat, and strives for freshness with no freezers at the restaurant.
The menu at Tacoria features handcrafted tacos, nachos, mission-style burritos, salads, and quesadillas that can be customized with proteins like spicy pulled chicken, fried avocado, al pastor pork, chorizo, roasted corn, carne asada, or brussels sprouts. There are a few completely vegan and gluten-free options, side dishes like chips and guacamole, a small kid’s menu, and even a dessert choice of Nutella nachos available.
The timeline for opening the Jersey City outpost is simply listed as Winter 2019 on the restaurant’s website, and those interested in keeping tabs on the buildout’s progress can follow Tacoria on Instagram at the handle @eattacoria.
