A second Sweetgreen location could be coming to the Garden State.
The Southern California-based chain is looking to open an outpost at The Shops at Riverside near Route 4 in Hackensack, according to site plans released by the Bergen County city’s municipal government.
Renderings indicate that the 2,763-square-foot Hackensack Sweetgreen restaurant would be situated next to Pottery Barn on the south side of the mall where Smashburger previously operated. A report from Neglia Engineering Associates that was revised last month states that there would also be an outdoor dining area.
Sweetgreen’s first New Jersey location opened in Jersey City over the summer. A Sweetgreen spokesperson has not yet responded to a request for comment regarding when the Hackensack restaurant could open its doors while The Shops at Riverside’s website simply lists the location as “coming soon.”
