A shopping complex in Jersey City near the Bayonne border will get a new gym as Planet Fitness signs a lease to open along Garfield Avenue.
The fitness brand will take 16,000 square feet inside the Twin City Shopping Center, bringing the 95,000-square-foot, grocery-anchored property to full occupancy. The property is located at the intersection of Garfield Avenue/Broadway and 53rd Street.
Levin Management Corporation (LMC) serves as leasing and managing agent for Twin City Shopping Center, with E.J. Moawad, LMC senior leasing representative, arranging the lease on behalf of the property ownership. Jack Chera of RIPCO Real Estate LLC represented Planet Fitness in the transaction.

“Planet Fitness is a strong addition to Twin City Shopping Center and a great fit for this neighborhood property,” said Moawad. “Our focus has been on strengthening the tenant mix with established operators and uses that serve the surrounding community.”
The Planet Fitness lease brings Twin City Shopping Center to full occupancy and comes amid several capital improvement projects at the property. Recent upgrades include a façade and stonework refresh, sidewalk enhancements, LED site lighting, pylon signage, fencing, landscaping, and Tesla EV chargers.
Twin City Shopping Center recently welcomed PB Club, Jersey City’s first dedicated indoor pickleball facility. Other tenants at the complex include children’s play concept Catch Air, Sakura Teriyaki, Aqui Market, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, and Dunkin’.
