The Bergen-Lafayette restaurant scene has just gotten a new entry as Jersey City locals have officially welcomed Pizzeria on Pine to the culinary landscape.

The new eatery is situated at 196 Pine Street, which was formerly home to Sam a.m. and had sat vacant for several years before springing back to life last month. Since their soft open at the corner of Pine and Communipaw Avenue in Bergen-Lafayette, Pizzeria on Pine has already built a solid neighborhood following.

Owned by husband-and-wife duo Kirsti and Andrew Brown, the concept of the restaurant hopes to blend the best of the two sides of the Hudson River. Pizzeria on Pine has deep roots in the classic New York slice but a homegrown connection to its adopted hometown of Jersey City.

The restaurant’s dough is fermented slow, stretched by hand, and baked hot with just six ingredients: flour, water, yeast, salt, sugar, and olive oil. All the sauces at Pizzeria on Pine are made in-house and the restaurant runs a completely nut-free kitchen while offering several gluten free options.

The pies at the restaurant span from the traditional square Grandma Pie to a Meat Sweatz concoction that is topped with pepperoni cups, sausage, and bacon. Their Dino Caesar blends kale, Caesar dressing, shaved parmesan and lemon zest panko breadcrumbs, while the rest of the menu includes various pastas, salads, and heroes.

Pizzeria on Pine now offers ordering directly through their website and is open for business from Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. They can be followed on Instagram at the handle @thepizzeriaonpine for further updates.
