The company Peloton Interactive, known for its indoor workout bikes and other fitness equipment, recently leased a 156,068-square-foot distribution and fulfillment center in Carteret. Employees began moving into the building in October.
The warehouse at 1500 Blair Road is less than a mile from the New Jersey Turnpike. It’s located in the western part of Carteret, a Middlesex County town north of Woodbridge, south of Elizabeth, and across the water from Staten Island.
The facility features 17 loading docks, 36-foot ceilings, ESFR sprinklers, a secured truck court, and parking trailer storage, according to CBRE, the company that negotiated the long-term lease.
CBRE’s Scott Belfer and Lou Belfer handled the transaction on behalf of Peloton. CBRE’s Thomas Monahan, Stephen D’Amato, Larry Schiffenhaus, Anastasia Lazarides, Lauren Griffith, and Gerard Monahan represented the building ownership, AEW.
“Peloton Interactive needed a state-of-the-art warehouse and distribution facility with convenient access to the New Jersey Turnpike that was also in close proximity to New York City and near a robust labor pool,” said Scott Belfer, senior vice president at CBRE.
The Peloton company has been expanding as a whole and plans to move its New York City corporate headquarters into new space on Ninth Avenue in 2020.
