A world-renowned chef that launched one of Montclair’s hottest restaurants over the summer has opened a second endeavor next door as OEN by Morimoto is now accepting reservations for their omakase dinners.
Montclair Hospitality Group recently opened their new 14-seat omakase experience at 189 Glenridge Avenue. While OEN by Morimoto is connected to MM by Morimoto next door, it operates as its own distinct concept, complete with a separate entrance.
Guests enter the space to a welcome lounge complete with a bamboo wall for pre-dinner cocktails. Highlights include the Wagyu Wash Old Fashioned garnished with wagyu chocolate jerky, the MM Manhattan with Morimoto Single Malt, or a Nanajugo “75” with lychee caviar pearls.
Guests then join together for a 14-guest seating experience that consists of 12-15 courses. The dining room was designed by Concept by Blank Design and features white leather, maple and spruce wood, slate finishes, and hand-selected china and antiques sourced by Chef Morimoto himself in Tokyo’s Tsukiji and Kappabashi districts.
OEN By Morimoto is $300 per person, inclusive of tip and service. Reservations can be booked through Resy, with single-seating service Wednesday through Sunday starting at 6:15 p.m.
For those who want the Morimoto experience more customized, MM by Morimoto’s 12,779 square foot restaurant next door can seat over 200 diners. The menu features exclusive cuts of fish flown in from Japan, Japanese and Australian Wagyu, plus domestic USDA Prime steak for a sushi and steakhouse experience.
Signature Morimoto favorites like his tuna pizza, sushi, and sashimi are joined by unique dishes such as Tacos Two Ways, Toro Tartare, and A5 Wagyu Carpaccio. A full bar offers handcrafted cocktails and an extensive wine, sake, and beer list.
