A new exercise option is coming to Jersey City’s northernmost neighborhood as New Heights Pilates is hard at work building out their future storefront along the Palisades.
The studio is headed to 10 South Street, the redevelopment that was previously home to the quirky Moe’s Bait and Tackle business for many decades. The re-imagining of the property restored a rowhouse and built a new expansion containing condos.
New Heights Pilates will open in the corner storefront at Palisade Avenue and South Street. The business is owned by a husband-wife team, with co-founder Andrea sharing that she was inspired to open the studio after discovering Reformer Pilates following a Type-2 diabetes diagnosis.

For those uninitiated, Reformer Pilates is a low-impact, full-body workout performed on a specialized, pulley- and spring-loaded machine. The business is called New Heights because Andrea says she gained an inch after incorporating the workout into her routine.
New Heights says it will hire only certified Pilates teachers and focus on smaller classes. While an opening date has not been announced, they have launched a website where those interested can sign up for updates. Further details can be found on their Instagram account at the handle @newheightspilates.
