Jersey City welcomed another cannabis dispensary over the weekend as The Medicine Woman kicked off their business with several celebrities in attendance to celebrate the launch.

Situated at 660 Tonnelle Avenue in Jersey City, The Medicine Woman gained approval from the city’s cannabis board early last year. New Jersey’s own Ice-T is a co-owner of the business along with Charis Burrett, a former Playboy model.

The Jersey City outpost of The Medicine Woman is the second location of the company after Burrett opened the first store in California. Their Tonnelle Avenue facility spans a whopping 5,000 square feet and offers a wide variety of cannabis products.

The grand opening celebration on April 19 was attended by Ice-T and Coco, Treach from Naughty by Nature, and actor Taylor Kinney, an investor in The Medicine Woman known for his role on NBC’s Chicago Fire.

“Bringing The Medicine Woman to Jersey City is about more than just opening a store—it’s about building a space where people can feel empowered to take control of their wellness journey,” said Charis Burrett, founder of The Medicine Woman. The business has worked with Hudson County Community College and Last Prisoner Project on various initiatives to source their employees from the local community.

The Medicine Woman aims to provide a full spectrum of global plant medicines to benefit the health and wellness of our local communities. The Garden State location is a bit of a full circle move for Ice-T, who was born in Newark and grew up in Summit.

“This isn’t just a grand opening; it’s a movement,” said Ice-T in a statement. “I’m proud to be part of something that’s changing the conversation around cannabis, giving people access to products they can trust and providing opportunities to the New Jersey community.”

The Medicine Woman has created a Jersey City-specific Instagram account at the handle @themedwomannj that can be followed for further updates, and online ordering for pickup is currently up and running through their website.
