Locations of Go! Go! Curry can be found all over the world, from Tokyo to Sao Paulo to Manhattan, yet the Japanese chain currently does not operate any restaurants in New Jersey. However, that will change later this year when Go! Go! Curry opens its first Garden State location in Downtown Newark.

A 1,500-square-foot franchise of Go! Go! Curry is in the works for the William Flats building at 15 Williams Street, according to a statement from Paramount Assets. William Flats, located at the corner of Broad and William Streets, was developed out of what once was an Oppenheim Collins department store. The building later contained stores and offices until construction began on the adaptive reuse project. The development’s ground floor currently includes locations of 7-Eleven and Santander Bank.

Go! Go! Curry describes itself as a business serving Kanazawa-style curry that takes five hours to stew and 55 hours to mature. The chain serves eight curry meals, but customers can also create their own curry with their choice of curry sauce and meat topping.

There are roughly 75 Go! Go! Curry locations globally. The Newark restaurant was franchised by Joy and Patrick Lumbres and is expected to open this fall, according to the statement.

The announcement that Go! Go! Curry will be coming to Downtown Newark comes roughly a month after it was revealed that Curry Up Now will be opening in the Hahne & Co. development, though the menu items at the two chains differ greatly.
