A staple of southern fast food will be hitting New Jersey in a big way in the coming years as Bojangles is planning to open dozens of restaurants across the Garden State.

The Charlotte-based company recently announced that plans are in place for more than 50 total Bojangles restaurants across the New York metropolitan area. The locations are slated to open over the next decade and include 35 units in New Jersey.

The news comes just months after Bojangles opened their first ever New Jersey restaurant in Piscataway at Centennial Square, a franchise location run by ADS Restaurant Group. The company, who manage more than 110 Burger King locations through Devs Foods and Parade Management, have committed to opening an additional 10 Bojangles in Central Jersey.

“I’m thrilled to bring Bojangles to the Piscataway community and share our bold, Southern flavors with local residents,” said ADS operator Sanjay Patel in a statement. “We look forward to serving the community with our delicious chicken, biscuits and tea, and we’re eager to create new job opportunities in the area.”

Bojangles additionally signed a 20-unit agreement for New York City that has been spearheaded by Habib Hashimi and Hashimi Holding Corporation. The Big Apple first outpost, slated for East Flatbush, is slated to open this winter.

“It’s a monumental moment, now that we’re entering the New York Metropolitan area again,” said Bojangles CEO Jose Armario in a news release. “The East Coast is craving the authentic, Southern charm that Bojangles delivers, and we’re excited to introduce locals to something new.”

Armario went on to praise the local operators they have joined with in the region under the franchise deals, which aim to raise the profile of the brand considerably in an area the company hasn’t served since the 1980s.

“The franchise groups behind this expansion are the exact partners we want to grow with—they bring the industry know-how, operational experience and leadership needed to grow Bojangles in a bustling market like New York,” he said.
