The sprawling redevelopment of a former office property in Englewood Cliffs, Bergen County, includes a new affordable housing component accepting applicants for a lottery program beginning next month.
Starting in June, 90 affordable rental apartments will be available at The Sylvan. The complex replaces the former Unilever corporate campus on Sylvan Avenue and includes 360 townhomes and residences.
The development includes 90 affordable units, and those who qualify and wish to apply can apply online to be entered into a lottery. A variety of studios, one, two, and three-bedroom units are affordable within the complex, which will be set aside for those with very low, low, and moderate incomes.
Preference will be given to applicants who live or work in Bergen, Hudson, Passaic, or Sussex counties. Income level qualifications can be viewed on the application page.
Developed by Garden Communities and set high above the Palisades, The Sylvan is a meticulously designed, lushly landscaped residential community featuring over 90,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor luxury amenities. The complex is located just minutes from the George Washington Bridge and wrapped construction earlier this year.
Those who apply for the affordable units in the complex must undergo a credit check, and no co-signers are allowed under the lease. Those interested must apply for the lottery before June 2 to be included in the first round of random drawing.
