Many were sad to hear about long-time neighborhood staple Palisades Lumber closing last month, but the live music that emanated from the walls of the lumberyard on Fridays throughout the summer over the years will continue in a new venue starting tonight.
The concert series, dubbed Live at the Lumberyard and run by the Riverview Neighborhood Association, didn’t have to go far to find a new home. It’s being transformed into Live on the Palisades and kicks off at 7PM tonight at the corner of Ogden Avenue and Bowers Street, just north of Riverview Park’s newly rebuilt gazebo.
Three bands, Drum and a Tantrum, The Rock & Roll High Fives, and The Jive Stewarts will be playing the inaugural revamped show. D.J. PreSkool will also be spinning at the event and food trucks from El Chilango, Koro Koro Rice Balls, and Squeez’d will be feeding locals all night long.
Patrons are encouraged to bring a blanket or a lawn chair to the free concert series, which is being sponsored by Yoga in the Heights, Fox and Crow, Guitar Bar Drum Den, Friggin’ Fabulous Productions, Remco Press, and 107 Bowers Gallery & ArtSpace. Future dates are scheduled on Fridays once per month on July 21st, August 11th and September 1st.
