A Turkish restaurant based in Mercer County looks to be heading east towards the Hudson River as an eatery named DoneRight Döner Kebab appears to have begun construction on their second location in Hoboken.
The Lawrenceville-based restaurant launched just about a year ago inside the Quaker Bridge Mall and quickly gained a following for their authentic Turkish Döner, which the eatery playfully calls “like a gyro, but better.” The döner was popularized in the 1970s and blends spiced meat, falafel, and more on Turkish-style Gobit bread.
DoneRight Döner Kebab’s signage application was recently heard by Hoboken’s Historic Preservation Committee for the building at 514 Washington Street previously occupied by the now-shuttered Brooklyn Dumpling Shop. While the company has not responded to our inquiries to confirm the opening, construction paper is up on the windows at the property.
Hungry Hoboken residents can expect a plethora of Turkish street food at the restaurant that includes several varieties of their DoneRight Sandwich, which can be served as a wrap, on freshly baked bread, or in a box over a bed of Turkish Rice. Seasoned chicken, lamb, falafel, and a mix that blends everything together are on the menu, as are appetizers like spicy ezme, stuffed grape leaves, or hummus and babaganoush.
Other highlights include the Pink Sultan, which blends a diner’s choice of protein with the restaurant’s Pink Sultan dip, hot peppers, pickles, mixed greens, and red cabbage. DoneRight Döner Kebab proudly serves 100% Halal meat at their Lawrenceville location.
The restaurant additionally offers different varieties of baklava for dessert along with other concoctions like a Turkish spin on creme brulee. While a timeline has not been indicated for the Hoboken location, DoneRight Döner Kebab can be followed on Instagram for updates at the handle @doneright_dk.
