A ramen hotspot in Hoboken has officially expanded with their second outpost inside a Downtown Jersey City space that has been dark for over two years.
Jersey Digs broke the news back in May about the impending Jersey City arrival of Muteki Ramen. The company had been plotting their Hoboken restaurant on Washington Street since 2017, eventually opening for business during 2020.
Muteki Ramen ended up being a success story amid the pandemic and a tough year for dining. They launched their second spot over the weekend at 100 York Street, a storefront situated next to Buddy Who’s that was most recently home to the LGBTQ-friendly Pianist Envy.
Operating under the slogan of “No Ramen, No Peace,” the menu at Muteki Ramen includes starters like shrimp shumai dumplings and fried okonomiyaki, which are Japanese vegetable pancakes. Other appetizers including wings and karaage fried chicken are featured alongside a variety of buns ranging from fried shrimp or vegetable tempura selections to pork belly with shredded cabbage and yakitori sauce.
The restaurant’s signature Muteki Ramen dish mixes both chicken and pork broths alongside pork and chicken chashu, butter corn, kikurage mushrooms, and bamboo shoots. Several of Muteki Ramen’s dishes that bring the heat include a spicy Volcano Miso dish, a kimchi ramen, or a Thai green curry variety.
A few meatless dishes like a creamy vegetarian ramen or a maze-men ramen, which subs in a shoyu base for broth, round out the menu. Muteki Ramen’s Hoboken and Jersey City outposts are both BYOB situations and the restaurant recently launched online ordering for their Jersey City location through their website.
