Ani Ramen House
The new Ani Ramen House currently under construction at 218 Newark Avenue is set to open in late September, reports Jersey City Upfront. As we’ve previously reported, this will be the second location of the Montclair ramen house. It will offer a full menu and full bar serving craft cocktails “with a Japanese twist.” They’ll also be offering up Japanese whiskeys from Suntory Whiskey.

9th and Coles For Sale
Over in Hamilton Park, Jersey City Eats reports that 9th and Coles is going up for sale. Earlier this year, the owners, who also own an animal sanctuary and farm in the Catskills, switched the menu over to serve all vegetarian offerings. Turns out that didn’t catch on as they expected, and now they want to sell to focus mainly on their upstate gig. The restaurant and bar will continue to operate as usual during the sale and transition.

Van Hook Cheese & Grocery
Yesterday, Van Hook Cheese & Grocery opened their doors at 528 Jersey Avenue. The specialty store hopes to become Downtown’s local cheesemonger. They will also sell a selection of cured meats and grocery items. During their 4-month renovation, Van Hook Cheese started selling on the farmers market circuit, giving locals a sneak peek into what to expect at the full scale store.

Atlas Public House
It looks like Atlas (or should we say ‘at last’) Public House is nearing an opening. According to Jersey City Upfront, the restaurant launched a website which features their full menu. The space, which has been under construction for at least 3 years now, originally was going by the name Monty’s. The recent name change and website launch appears to indicates that they may be nearing an opening date. Originally thought to be a bar-first establishment, it now looks like they will be putting an emphasis on their food.
