This Thursday, the Grand Street Concept Development Study will be holding a community workshop at Dr. Lena Frances Edwards Charter School.
Grand Street, which runs from Bergen-Lafayette to Exchange Place, is currently a vehicle-oriented roadway. According to the Development Study, vehicles regularly speed on the street and boasts one of the highest rates of pedestrian and motor vehicle crashes in Jersey City. By undertaking this study, Jersey City hopes to improve the balance between all transportation modes in order to make the street safer and more accessible to all – pedestrians, vehicles, cyclists, and those taking public transportation.
The workshop is a way for those who believe in safer, mixed-use streets to share their opinions on the current state of Grand Street, as well as their ideas for improvement. Attend, give feedback, and ensure that the community will benefit from the street redesign.
