When Pathmark closed in 2015, it left a void in the downtown Jersey City grocery landscape. That all changes today as “the leading Asian American supermarket”, 99 Ranch, opens their second East Coast location in the old Pathmark space at 420 Grand Street.

The 50,000 sq. ft. store brings with it the standard grocery fare alongside more novelty items like live seafood, an extensive bakery section, and a hot deli offering dim sum, barbecue, noodles and other authentic Chinese dishes.

A grand opening celebration is underway today with the first 200 customers receiving a free goody bag. They will also have on-site games all weekend where shoppers can win various gifts. During the grand opening week, the store will discounts on a wide variety of products as well.

99 Ranch was founded in Orange County, California in 1984, and currently has 42 locations in California, Nevada, Texas, and Washington State. Their first East Coast location opened in a former Pathmark in January in Edison, Middlesex County, and another market is in the works for Hackensack, Bergen County.

Located in the Old Colony Square Shopping Center, the new store will be open every day from 9 am to 9 pm.
