Morristown has seen a number of developments over the last 15 years that have changed the face of its central business district, with new projects still continuing to be proposed.

However, the Morris County seat’s downtown is not the only place in the municipality where developers have recently sought approval for new buildings. Now, a new project with dozens of apartments is envisioned near a suburban office complex within town limits.

Municipal zoning filings show that a firm associated with The Silverman Group of Bernards Township is planning a four-story building with 45 residential units at 161-163 Madison Avenue/Route 124 behind Morristown Plaza.

The project would include 32 one-bedroom units, 13 two-bedroom units, and 53 parking spaces, according to an overall site plan rendering from Bohler Engineering.

A February traffic impact assessment from Dolan & Dolan Consulting Engineers, LLC indicated that this project would be constructed at the site of roughly 107 parking spaces adjacent to The M at Morristown, a relatively new apartment complex located close to Turtle Road.

The premises are situated roughly a mile and a half from the Morristown Green and are a few blocks east of Morristown Medical Center.

This application was carried to the Morristown Board of Adjustment’s virtual meeting on Wednesday, December 2 from the November 4 meeting, according to the municipal government’s meeting notice. The December 2 Zoom meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Note to readers: The dates that applications are scheduled to be heard by the Morristown Board of Adjustment and other commissions are subject to change.
