A neighborhood that has seen a huge building boom has another tower in the works that would include a large supermarket space across the street from the Journal Square PATH station.
BetterBlocksNJ recently posted about a proposal to overhaul 2873 John F. Kennedy Boulevard. The property, directly adjacent to the Loews Jersey Theater, is currently home to a two-story retail property that features a curved design.

That aesthetic would remain under plans for a 54-story mixed-use development, which would keep the curve intact as part of the three-story base. A roughly 50,000 square foot retail space would occupy the ground floor, with a supermarket reportedly planned for the development.
The development would include a total of 824 apartments, including at least 82 income-restricted residences to comply with the Jersey City Inclusionary Housing ordinance.

The development would also reportedly contribute $3 million to the Jersey City Redevelopment Agency to fund public space improvements around Journal Square, according to BetterBlocksNJ.
No parking would be included in the development, which has not yet submitted any official application to Jersey City. The development would need to be approved by the Jersey City Planning Board before moving forward, and it is unclear what type of variances, if any, would be needed from existing zoning.
