A Texas-based chicken wings fast food chain has opened a second restaurant in New Jersey’s largest city.

On December 19, a Wingstop location opened its doors at 487 Bloomfield Avenue in Newark’s North Ward. The site was previously occupied by a Pizza Hut location and a meat market.

Both of Wingstop’s current Newark locations are situated north of Interstate 280. The chain’s other Newark outpost opened in 2015 near the Clay Street Bridge.

Wingstop expanded into New Jersey six years ago when a franchise opened in Elizabeth. Currently, there are over a dozen Wingstop locations in the Garden State, all of which are in Northern and Central New Jersey.

Sunsha Parker, a new restaurant opening field marketing manager for Wingstop, told Jersey Digs in an email that “we currently do not have additional openings scheduled at the moment, but we do plan on growing within the New Jersey market.”
