One of the most recognizable chicken wing brands in the country has launched their second Jersey City outpost as Wingstop is open for business in the city’s Downtown.

The Texas-based brand has set up shop at 231 12th Street on a busy roadway along the fringes of Hamilton Park. The standalone building that houses the restaurant was part of the revamp of an Exxon gas station property that was approved in 2022.

Wingstop operates a total of 50 fast-casual locations throughout New Jersey. Founded in 1994, the chain has grown rapidly both internationally and across the United States.

The menu at Wingstop focuses on (surprise!) wings, plus fries and other sides. The restaurant serves both classic (bone-in) and boneless varieties and offers customers the option to mix and match as part of a combo meal.

Wingstop’s wings are slathered in a variety of signature sauces spanning from their hot Atomic option to a Hickory Smoked BBQ blend. The citrusy heat of Mango Habanero, Garlic Parmesan, and a Hawaiian blend of island citrus with rich Asian flavors add to the fun.

The restaurant recently introduced crispy tenders as well as chicken sandwiches. A few varieties of their fries include a Cajun option, or loaded with cheese sauce, ranch, and customizable toppings.

Wingstop’s 12th Street location is now open daily from 10:30 a.m. until 3 a.m., with both carry out and delivery service available through their website. The brand is slated to open a location just about a mile away in Hoboken in the coming months at 502 Washington Street. Their other Jersey City location operates near Lincoln Park.

Jersey City’s new Wingstop is situated just steps from a Wendy’s that opened along the 12th Street corridor last year. Taco Bell also opened along the stretch, which is heavily traveled by drivers heading towards the Holland Tunnel.
