One of the largest grocers in the county will be the first phase opening at the redeveloped Monmouth Mall, as Whole Foods has set a timeline for the opening of their Eatontown store.
Jersey Digs reported just about two years ago that the grocer signed a lease for 40,000 square feet in the revamped complex, which sits along Route 35 South. Kushner Companies is hard at work overhauling about 100 acres of land into a mixed-use outdoor shopping facility.
Whole Foods will open the first phase of Monmouth Square on July 29 at 8:00 a.m. The first 300 customers in line will receive a limited-edition Eatontown tote bag and a Secret Saver coupon featuring savings up to $100 off.
The future Monmouth Square Whole Foods promises a décor inspiration that is sunny and modern, with sea-inspired elements, including a bright, pastel color palette that is combined with neutral tones and raw wood.
Opening morning, customers can look forward to samples from Palazzone 1960 and coffee from Paper Plane Coffee Co. Whole Foods Market will also be providing a refrigerated van and food donation to NJ Rise, marking the occasion, which makes regular surplus food pickups from local stores to help prevent food waste and serve the surrounding community.

The soon-to-open Whole Foods is surrounded by construction activity that will eventually include 900,000 total square feet of retail, a two-acre public green space with walking and biking trails, and a component called Monmouth Village, which is also part of the plan and includes 1,000 new luxury apartments.
The $500 million development has nabbed a few other notable retail tenants in addition to the upcoming Whole Foods. Felice, Cava, New York City’s Prince Street Pizza, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, and Offshore Coffee Co. have also signed leases at the complex, which is expected to conclude construction in 2028.
