The Pinto Group has set a new sales record at the Sugar House in Downtown Jersey City, fetching the highest price in the iconic building’s history. Marcus W. Pinto and Eric Leventhal of The Pinto Group at Compass RE sold the luxury residence for $2,600,000 after just days on the market.

Located along the Paulus Hook waterfront at 174 Washington Street, the Sugar House was designed and built in 1863 by Danish architect Detlef Lienau, who later founded the American Institute of Architects, as a sugar warehouse for the American Sugar Refining Company. The Civil War-era factory was converted in 2001 into 64 luxury condominiums and is one of the most coveted historic buildings, with rarely any units available.

The record-setting bespoke two-bedroom, two-bath residence impresses with direct views east of the Hudson River and Lower Manhattan, as well as direct views south of the Statue of Liberty, the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, and New York Harbor. These sunny and stunning exposures are framed by a wide line of Pella windows with fully electric blinds and two sets of glass doors slide to let the outside in.

The spectacularly renovated interior includes a professional-grade kitchen with white walnut cabinetry, marbled Quartz countertops, and a full suite of Miele appliances.

The generous primary suite offers a large sitting area and a spa-like bath with a walk-in shower, separate soaking tub, and a dual vanity with custom built-ins.

No expense was spared for this one-of-a-kind residence, including in the second full bath which is fully clad in Calacatta marble and features a custom vanity and a custom shower enclosed by fluted glass.

The Pinto Group is also behind the second-highest sales record at the Sugar House, selling another two-bedroom masterpiece residence on the fourth floor for $2,440,000. Totaling over 2,000 square feet, the corner unit offers a sweeping southeastern exposure from Lower Manhattan to the Statue of Liberty and beyond.

The residence was renovated by renowned NYC designer M. Moy to breathtaking effect. The private entry gallery ushers into the expansive living and dining area, with 11 oversized windows flooding the main space with brilliant natural light. Matte-finished London Ash hardwood floors, exposed brick, detailed millwork, and custom architectural lighting are throughout.
