A former tattoo parlor just off Hoboken’s main drag has been transformed into a new speakeasy from the team behind two of the city’s best eateries, as SRO is looking to have a big few weeks of nightlife.

Jersey Digs broke the news about SRO way back in the summer of 2024. The restaurant, initially called Baby Girl, looked to take advantage of Hoboken’s zoning overhaul that allowed below-grade retail uses in non-flood areas.

That mostly finished product is now called SRO, an abbreviation for Standing Room Only. The concept comes courtesy of the team behind local favorites Anthony David’s and Bin 14, who have long been mainstays of the Hoboken dining scene.

SRO offers a more intentional approach to going out, less about volume and more about atmosphere and thoughtfully crafted cocktails. The space, designed by Chef Anthony Pino and Liz Pino, is moody and transportive, drawing guests into the night as the energy builds with each round.

Chef Pino brings his ingredient-driven, Mediterranean-influenced approach to a menu at SRO with refined small plates designed to complement the beverage program. The eclectic food options include everything from chips and artichoke dip to petite Wagyu burgers, BBQ duck spring rolls, deviled lobster eggs, or Russian Ossetra caviar.

Leading the cocktail program is Ken Rosado, whose résumé includes stops at Le Bernardin, The Modern, Major Food Group, and Crystal Springs. The drink program at SRO seeks to highlight lesser-known spirits and wines that emphasize craftsmanship over mass-market familiarity.

SRO features a somewhat rare happy hour on Saturdays and Sundays from 3 to 5 p.m. with $13 cocktail selections. The business is slated to expand in June, with the addition of a downstairs listening room and lounge set to feature a more intimate, music-driven experience in space that will also be available for private events.

Those interested in following SRO can stop by 107 10th Street or follow them on Instagram at @srohoboken.
