A restaurant nestled in a ski resort area will be opening their second location in Downtown Jersey City as Oda Wine Bar is headed to long-dormant storefront.
During their August 7 meeting, Jersey City’s Zoning Board signed off on a plan to revamp the ground floor of 114 Brunswick Street. The board granted the property what is known as a D-1 use variance to allow a category II restaurant to open inside the space.
The move means that a full kitchen will be added to the footprint of the retail component, which will eventually house Oda Wine Bar & Restaurant. The business is co-owned by Anastassia Tsivadze, who testified extensively to the board about the restaurant’s plans.
The existing Oda Wine Garden is situated in Margaretville, New York and specializes in Georgian cuisine. Tsivadze opened the restaurant with her husband Noli Alaj back in 2023 and is looking to bring a similar experience to Jersey City in the coming months.
While the Oda location in Margaretville is near a ski resort and only open on weekends, the Jersey City spin on the restaurant will feature more traditional restaurant hours. The eatery has become known for their small plates in the Catskills, with dishes like Croatia Trofie pasta, burek pies, and kebab sandwiches.
While a potential opening timeline for Oda Wine Bar’s Jersey City outpost wasn’t disclosed during the meeting, the board’s unanimous approval to revamp the space can’t hurt their prospects. The restaurant’s existing location can be followed on Instagram at the handle @odawinegarden.
