A new medical marijuana dispensary could be coming to the side of a major thoroughfare in Union County.

The cannabis business is being proposed for 148-152 and 154 Westfield Avenue West, also known as Route 28, in Roselle Park, according to a notice of hearing.

The plans, which are scheduled to go before the Roselle Park Municipal Land Use Board today, September 20, call for a company named 148-152 W Westfield Ave, LLC to construct a dispensary that would be two stories tall. More than 40 parking spaces would be provided on the premises.

State business filings indicate that the LLC, which is seeking preliminary and final minor site plan approval with variances in order to move forward with the project, was incorporated in 2018 out of Clifton.

Documents from Jarmel Kizel Architects and Engineers that were released by Roselle Park’s municipal government indicate that this facility would be a Breakwater Treatment & Wellness location. Breakwater currently has a dispensary in Cranbury Township, Middlesex County.

“The ground floor will be 5,194 square feet and the second floor will be 5,574 square feet for a total building area of 10,768 square feet,” an August report from Jarmel Kizel regarding the Roselle Park location states. “The second level will also contain an open-air terrace of 970 square feet.”

The Roselle Park Municipal Land Use Board’s meeting is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. inside the Borough Hall council chambers at 110 East Westfield Avenue.

Note to readers: The dates that applications are scheduled to be heard by the Roselle Park Municipal Land Use Board and other commissions are subject to change.
