Once upon a time, Weehawken’s Port Imperial section was just an old port and arguably not much of a neighborhood. Former shipping facilities dotted the coastline and offered drivers and passersby a pretty bleak landscape, but nonetheless featured an unobstructed view of the Manhattan skyline.

But the beginning of this century saw developers inevitably move in and capitalize on the neighborhood’s potential, and a slew of projects currently underway have been transforming the once-downtrodden area. The latest development to hit the neighborhood is the final phase of Lennar’s Henley on Hudson project, which the company says is set to launch pre-construction sales later this year.

The final phase of the building, located just north of Weehawken’s 10-acre Waterfront Park and Recreation Center, will consist of 67 residences spread out over two buildings, one four stories tall and the other six stories above a private parking garage. The condominiums will feature one, two and three-bedroom floor plans ranging in size from 1,165 to 1,998 square feet.

Like much of Port Imperial, the spaces at Henley on Hudson will have some high-end features. Spanish hickory wood floors will run throughout the new homes, while quartz countertops and Spazzi cabinets will highlight the open-concept gourmet kitchens. Top-line fixtures from Kohler and appliances will also be included in the development, and many units will feature spa-like master bathrooms.

Both the new and existing amenities at Henley on Hudson will be plentiful. The latest buildings will feature a cardio fitness room, a children’s playroom, and a lounge, plus an outdoor garden terrace. Buyers at the new building will also have access to the Club at Henley, an already existing 6,000 square-foot clubhouse that features an outdoor, resort-style infinity pool and other amenities like a theater room, fitness center and gaming lounge.

The new construction will be designed to look like to the existing Henley on Hudson buildings and most of the homes will feature balconies, terraces or in some cases, both. Prices at the new Henley on Hudson will start at $799,000 and run as high as $2.5 million.

The complex has completely sold out all of its’ existing units, the most recent phase of which went up for sale in 2013. When the final build-out is complete, the community will total 201 homes. Lennar expects future residents to take their initial occupancy at the latest Henley on Hudson buildings in early 2018.
