Long time local fixture, Grimaldi’s Pizza will close one of its two Hoboken locations at the end of August. Closing will be the original Grimaldi’s location at 133 Clinton Street. The company plans to keep the more visible 411 Washington Street shop open.

In a statement to the Hudson Reporter, Bernadette McHugh, one of the pizzeria’s owners, said, “Same old story in Hoboken, We are closing because the rent has become too high.”

Grimaldi’s has occupied the space for 22 years since its debut in Hoboken in “April of 1994 under the name of Patsy’s in partnership with Pat and Carol Grimaldi, pizza celebrities in their own right.”

They will move their delivery operation to the Washington Street in order to continue delivering pies to all of Hoboken.
