The ownership team behind Jersey City’s popular Uncle Momo spot has launched their second endeavor just a few blocks west, as Vis a Vis Café is officially open for business in the cozy new space.
The Lebanese-French restaurant Uncle Momo first opened along Jersey City’s Grove Street in 2017 and has become a staple ever since. The group’s latest eatery takes them to 197 Newark Avenue for more of an early-risers spot, complete with coffee, pastries, and drinks, including the recently unveiled Strawberry Matcha Latte.
Several breakfast dishes, like pancakes and waffles, adorn the menu at Vis a Vis Care, which also includes some Middle Eastern-inspired items. Homemade shakshuka, a hummus plate, and several salad and bowl options are featured on the café’s menu, which boasts indoor tables plus ample outdoor seating overlooking the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza.
Their more lunch-forward options include some signature sandwiches like a Sabich, which combines roasted eggplant, hummus, eggs, tahini, and pickles on sourdough bread. Their Zaatar toast blends whipped zaatar cream cheese, smoked salmon, tomatoes, capers, and olive oil.
Vis a Vis Café is now open daily from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m., with an early 6 p.m. close on Sundays. The café can be followed on Instagram at the handle @visaviscafebistro.
