A fondue restaurant is celebrating their 50th year in business with big plans for the Garden State as The Melting Pot is looking to open as many as four new locations in some of New Jersey’s most prominent towns.

A representative with Mainland PR, who represents Tampa-based The Melting Pot, has confirmed to Jersey Digs that the company is looking for strategic growth in New Jersey with plans to open multiple spots. The Melting Pot had previously operated a location in Hoboken along Sinatra Drive and an outpost in the Bergen County borough of Westwood, but both of those locations have been shuttered.

However, the company now runs two restaurants in Maple Shade and Red Bank and is looking to add more to their portfolio. The Melting Pot is targeting Jersey City, Belleville, and Princeton areas for new restaurant openings within the next three years.

Melting Pot’s CEO Bob Johnston and the corporate team recently visited these areas to explore the market and engage with potential candidates. A representative with Mainland PR told Jersey Digs that while Melting Pot hasn’t signed any leases yet, they are looking for franchisees to partner with and are hoping to move on the new locations quickly.

For the uninitiated, The Melting Pot runs 90 restaurants nationwide that offer a fondue experience. Diners can indulge in cheese fondue with a variety of dippers, plus entrees with savory broths and sauces. Chocolate fondue with dippers like cheesecake, strawberries, and more make up the desserts.

The Melting Pot has been revamping the brand a bit recently, remodeling 65 of its locations in just the last year. The company says it hopes to have at least two of its planned New Jersey spots up and running by 2028.
