If you’re one of the holdouts still doubting Journal Square’s revitalization, maybe this will convince you – a Starbucks is in the works for the Journal Square PATH station.
The news was first reported Friday by the Jersey Journal.
Starbucks is in negotiations with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to bring a larger-than-average store to the transit plaza. The proposed 2,079 square foot full-service shop will also boast a large outdoor seating area.
Plans indicate an expected opening of February 2017, which closely coincides with the opening of the first Journal Squared tower at the end of 2016.
The area seems to finally be heating up. Considering the Journal Squared tower will bring in upwards of 1,000 new residents and with so much development planned, it seems we’re going to start seeing more and more upscale retail moving into Journal Square. Recently, a second outpost of Downtown favorite PJ Ryan’s opened in the plaza.
The Port Authority is expected to vote on the finalized lease at their commissioner’s meeting this Thursday.
