The largest effort to revitalize Flemington in decades is slated to become fully operational soon, as the historic Union Hotel will reopen as part of a larger entertainment and housing development.

The property, which first opened in 1814, will relaunch under the Tribute Portfolio Hotel brand on July 15th. The opening follows a transformative redevelopment that reintroduces one of New Jersey’s most historic properties as a modern boutique hotel and social destination.

Following extensive restoration, the landmark property is reopening with 100 guest rooms, including 10 suites, elevated dining concepts, nightlife experiences, and curated gathering spaces. The historic space once housed journalists reporting on the famed Lindbergh Trial of 1932.

The project is led by former MLB player-turned-developer Jack Cust, whose vision centers on honoring the building’s legacy. The endeavor also included a 206-unit development called Courthouse Square next door to the hotel.

“Throughout the redevelopment process, great care was taken to preserve and restore as many original architectural elements and historic details of the property as possible,” said Cust. “The project intentionally blends the preserved bones and historic integrity of the building with contemporary design, allowing The Union Hotel to maintain its rich sense of history while introducing a refreshed guest experience built for today’s traveler.”

The hotel will operate under Concord Hospitality and will be part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio. At the heart of the food program is Jersey Prime, a modern Italian steakhouse set to feature top-shelf steaks dry-aged in-house, seasonally driven house-made pastas, coastal-inspired seafood, an expansive raw bar, handcrafted cocktails, and a curated wine program.

“We are thrilled to be part of bringing this extraordinary project to life,” said Mark Laport, President & CEO of Concord Hospitality. “The Union Hotel represents the kind of destination travelers are increasingly seeking – one that delivers authentic character, elevated hospitality, and an experience that feels deeply connected to its history and surroundings.”

Other venues at the upcoming property will include JP’s Speakeasy, set to serve craft cocktails, curated music, and a refined, atmosphere-driven experience. The nearby Courthouse Square will also debut Fieldhouse Social later this year, an elevated sports bar featuring duckpin bowling, golf simulators, interactive darts, and shuffleboard.

The Union Hotel can also accommodate weddings, rehearsal dinners, and more. Those interested in following along with the rollout at the property can keep up with the endeavors on Instagram at @theunionhotelflemington, @jerseyprimesteakhouse, and @fieldhousesocial.
