Tech Innovators Propelling to Hoboken

Propeller-fest-hobokenOn May 20th, Hoboken’s Pier A will celebrate innovation by hosting Propellor Fest. Described as a day filled with inspiration, education and fun; activities will include talks from tech luminaries, networking and a start up competition. Notable speakers include: Marc Lore – founder of Hoboken’s own Jet.com, Gerard Adams – cofounder of Elite Daily, and Jenny Fielding – managing director of Techstars, among many others. Also billed as a music festival, there will be performances throughout the day and concluding with a performance by a “Super Secret Artist.”

According to NJ Tech Weekly, more than 100 volunteers from the New Jersey technology community are working together to make this happen. When they asked organizer Aaron Price what gave him the idea to try to pull off an outsized event like this one, he answered,

“The region is massively overdue for an event that unites the innovators of the Northeast. There is so much startup and innovation activity, and so much more now than there was six years ago [when Price started his meetup group]. I don’t think there is a better time to start a company! Yet we don’t have an event that brings together and celebrates the Northeast region in a way that is outside of the meetups and other more traditional events.”

We’re excited to see the tech community in NJ come together for an event of this scale. With the lower cost of office space and quality of life Hudson County provides, it’s only a matter of time before Silicon Alley jumps the Hudson.
