‘Tis that time of year again! With the holiday season in full swing, there are many events and activities planned all around Jersey City. Here’s a list of events going on from now until the New Year. Please feel free to add more in the comments section!

The Eight Reindeer Monologues
Friday, December 16th, 8:00pm – 10:30pm

Helpless female or lying Vixen! There have been allegations she’s made, rumors about Jolly old St. Nick and poor little deformed Rudolph who’s now in an institution. Well now hear the real story from the reindeer themselves….

A hilarious comedy by Jeff Goode where the reindeer give their opinions of Vixen’s allegations that Santa made more than inappropriate advances at her.

Starring Dasher, Cupid, Prancer, Blitzen, Comet, Dancer, Donner w/musical performances by Glen Coleman, Kenny Jaworski, Camila Camilo, Robin Frost, Alishia Taiping and Forget the Whale.

The Jersey City Nutcracker
December 16th – 18th

Nimbus Dance Works announces the seventh year of the company’s annual holiday tradition: Jersey City Nutcracker. Jersey City Nutcracker tells the story of two children’s urban holiday adventure leading them through fantasy, adversity and celebration and teaching them lessons about friendship and community along the way. Choreographed and directed by Nimbus Artistic Director Samuel Pott, this adaption of Tchaikovsky’s holiday classic is performed by a stand-out cast of professional dancers from Nimbus Dance Works joined by youth and adults from the community as they portray familiar characters such as the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Rat King, the Arabian Princess and Drosselmeyer – all with a Jersey City twist! Amidst colorful sets, costumes, a brightly adorned tree, youth and adults alike are touched by this tale of Christmas spirit.

Holidays at Harborside with Rooftop Films: The Muppets Christmas Carol (Free)
Saturday, December 17, 1pm
The Atrium at Harborside Terminal, 147 Harborside Financial Center Platform, Jersey City

Celebrate the holidays with your family at a special free screening of THE MUPPETS CHRISTMAS CAROL complete with complimentary face painting and crafts, as well as food options from local vendors.

Donate to the MCPCA: The MCPCA is still rebuilding years after Hurricane Sandy and they need your help with the recent rescue of hundreds of animals from hoarding situations. Any amount helps!

Christmas Day Services and Dinner For The Homeless
December 25th, 9am – 5pm
Grace Church Van Vorst, 39 Erie Street, Jersey City

Join our friends from St. Matthews Lutheran Church in preparing and sharing a Christmas dinner with Grace Community Services’ food insecure and homeless guests right in our own gym. There will be lots of ways to help. You could come at 9am and help prepare, bring a dish, serve, hang out with our guests, and most importantly, come help clean up afterward.

21st Annual Kwanzaa Celebration
Friday, December 30th, 5pm – 9pm
Redeemer Lutheran Church 37 Warner Ave, Jersey City

Hotep Kenya, B.I.T.E. is hosting the 21st annual Kwanzaa Celebration. Take it back to the Motherland with a display of our Kuumba (Creativity) Spoken Word, African Dance, Song and more. Bring the family and bring a dish to contribute to the Kwanzaa.
