Bayonne appears to be a city on the rise with a myriad of projects planned and under construction, so it’s only natural that a few new eateries would be on the horizon to serve residents new and old.

One of the latest spots to open along the city’s main street is Refinery Tavern. The bar, which has taken up residence at the former Pair of Jacks Pub space at 812 Broadway, started serving drinks out of their front room on March 18th, just in time for Bayonne’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The 80-year old building’s ground floor was renovated into a modern space, but an effort was made to preserve the older look with the clean approach.

But owner George and his team, not content to be just a bar, have been hard at work putting the finishing touches on the tavern’s full kitchen and Break Room, which will feature an open concept that gives patrons a peek at what the chefs are up to. The space will also have formal tables for diners, a separate sound system, and another six TVs that will come in handy during big sports weekends.

As far as the grub goes, Refinery Tavern will open for breakfast fare once operations are smooth at 7AM daily and will also feature Hard Hat Lunch Specials that include a burger and select pints for $10. The regular menu features different types or burgers, sandwiches and starter options, plus some more unique items like a kielbasa and kraut dish.

Daily drink and food specials will also be part of the restaurant’s approach and Refinery Tavern will additionally have a late-night menu that will be available until 1AM. The team is thrilled about the response the spot has gotten so far. “The city has been very receptive, from our guests all the way to City Hall,” says George.

The full opening of The Refinery Tavern is happening today all day long. DJ Rich Rox will be spinning for the festivities from 7-11 PM and drink specials will be flowing, so stop by and check out Broadway’s latest spot. More details can be found on their Facebook page.
