The prime retail corner (Grove@Columbus) previously occupied by Hard Grove Cafe is undergoing renovation to become a PNC Bank. It appears PNC’s current location, 1 block away, isn’t driving enough deposits.
Even as a PNC depositor, it really pains me to see a prime retail space become a bank. I’d much prefer to walk the extra block and up the six steps to it’s current location if that meant a new restaurant, bar, bodega, grocery, coffee shop, daycare, retail store, or anything really.
