Residents of Jersey City and beyond looking for a spot to keep their stuff officially have a new option as a self-storage facility that began construction earlier this year is now open for business.

Tulfra Real Estate, a Rochelle Park, New Jersey-based real estate and development company, recently held a ribbon-cutting for a six-story self-storage building adjacent to Liberty State Park. The property, at 300 Thomas McGovern Drive, brings modern, climate-controlled units to one of the nation’s most populous markets.

Jersey Digs reported on the groundbreaking back in January, and the ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the completion of the first phase of the project. The first phase encompasses 115,000 square feet, and when fully built out in three phases, the project will total 260,000 square feet.

Representatives from Fulton Bank, the project’s lender, and JLL Capital Markets, which arranged the financing, joined Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, local officials, community leaders, and project partners to commemorate the opening. Public Storage is the leasing agent and manager of the facility.

“This is a milestone not only for Tulfra but also for the Jersey City community,” said Sonny Jumani, President/CEO of Tulfra Real Estate. “We are proud to transform this former industrial site into a best-in-class storage facility that will serve thousands of residents and businesses in one of the fastest-growing markets in the nation.”

The property is just one mile from Exchange Place and the PATH station, twenty minutes from Lower Manhattan, and boasts direct access to Liberty State Park and easy connections to Midtown Manhattan via the Holland and Lincoln tunnels.

The opening of Jersey City Self Storage adds to Tulfra’s growing self-storage portfolio, which now exceeds one million square feet of developed facilities across northern New Jersey.
