The owners of Lorena’s in Maplewood are working on a new restaurant called Altopiano that will serve up Italian-Mediterranean cuisine. Although the Maplewood building has been vacant for the past five years, it has a rich history of former restaurants, including an Italian restaurant, a steakhouse, and an English pub.

Jersey Digs spoke with owner Humberto Campos, who shared that “Altopiano will be very casual and family oriented. A place that you can go 2-3 times per week.” Of note, it will be only the fourth eatery in Maplewood to have a liquor license.

Jersey Digs will share further details when the opening date approaches, either later this year or early next year.
