NJ Transit and delivery platform DoorDash recently announced a one-year partnership to expand the platform’s reach in North Jersey during the 2026 World Cup and beyond. The partnership will rename the Meadowlands Rail Line between MetLife Stadium and the Secaucus Junction station as the DoorDash Meadowlands Rail Line and, after the soccer tournament, expand the platform’s visibility at Secaucus Junction and throughout the state.
A press release from NJ Transit said the marketing agreement will increase DoorDash’s visibility among more than 300,000 fans during the World Cup. Riders will see DoorDash branding on the two locomotives being used during the matches, on their digital tickets, and on signage within Secaucus Junction. The partnership will also raise DoorDash’s visibility for the hundreds of thousands of visitors to the stadium throughout the year.
NJ Transit will also promote DoorDash by wrapping five buses serving North Jersey after the World Cup, including DoorDash on its official rail line maps, and through other branding partnerships throughout its rail system.
NJ Transit and DoorDash did not disclose the financial terms of the partnership. The agreement was announced on June 11, just two days before the first World Cup match at MetLife Stadium. The stadium has been temporarily renamed the New York-New Jersey Stadium and will host eight matches in total.
The national teams of France, Senegal, Norway, Ecuador, Panama, Germany, and England will play some of their group-stage matches at the stadium. It will also host a knockout-stage match on June 30, a round of 16 match on July 5, and the final on July 19.
While DoorDash is set to gain significant exposure from the hordes of World Cup fans visiting the area during the tournament, it is not the only firm attempting to cash in on the surge in tourism. Real estate firm Related announced in April that it is hosting watch parties and official World Cup merchandise stores at several of its most prominent properties, including Hudson Yards, The Shops at Columbus Circle, and Bronx Terminal Market.
Apparel brand Adidas, one of the main sponsors of the tournament, is also setting up a 25,000-square-foot brand hub at Brooklyn Bridge Park from June 13 through July 19. The hub will also serve as one of the official free fan events held in the area during the tournament.
A July 2025 press release from the New York-New Jersey Host Committee says the tournament is projected to generate $3.3 billion in economic impact across the region.
