An Essex County church could soon get into the real estate development business.

International Faith Ministries is planning a six-story development on its property at 476-482 4th Avenue West by North 13th Street in Newark’s North Ward, according to a notice of hearing.

The property is located in the upper part of the city’s Roseville section just a few yards away from the Bakery Village complex and the East Orange city limit. The area is served by New Jersey Transit’s 34 bus to Downtown Newark and Montclair Center.

If approved, the new building would consist of 45 apartments, 1,233 square feet of ground-floor commercial spaces, and 20 parking spaces, the notice says.

International Faith Ministries is listed as having applied to the Newark Zoning Board of Adjustment for preliminary and final site plan approval with variances relating to use, height, density, lot coverage, parking, lighting, and shade trees.

The notice indicates that a hearing was scheduled to take place during the board’s meeting today, Thursday, September 30, but this matter is not currently listed on the agenda for the meeting in question.
