A Downtown Newark property that was revitalized in recent years is finally going to have a ground-floor tenant to activate the streetscape, as Bardega Supper Club will be setting up shop on a prominent corner.
CBRE, which represents 579 Broad Urban Renewal LLC, announced that it has signed a long-term lease of 4,203 square feet to the new business, which plans to open a new restaurant and lounge in the location in the summer of 2026. Marta Person Villa of CBRE represented the owner in the deal, while Tara Robertson of BRX Realty negotiated on behalf of the tenant.
The registered agent of Bardega Supper Club is Edinson Diaz, who also owns Clifton’s Made in Miami restaurant. That eatery opened in 2022 and focuses on tapas, cocktails, and fusion cuisine, but few details have emerged about the upcoming Newark restaurant.
“The new Bardega Supper Club is the latest addition to the thriving entertainment and retail scene in downtown Newark,” said Villa. “In addition to complimentary shopping and venues, the area is a destination for more than 60,000 students, faculty, and staff, and is less than a 20-minute train ride to New York Penn Station and just eight miles from lower Manhattan.”
Formerly known as The Kislak Building, 879 Broad Street was revamped just about a decade ago. The five-story property is part of a historic building originally constructed in 1900 and is now 41 residential units.
The ground floor of the building includes 5,700 square feet of retail, meaning the new supper club will occupy the majority of the ground-floor retail space.
