This one’s for fans of Tiny House Nation and those who crave a simpler way of life without sacrificing access to the amenities of urban living. With Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop on hand to dig the shovel in, Nest Micro Apartments has broken ground on a building that will offer a more minimalist way to live.
Nest will offer residents amenities like a gym, coffee house, roof deck lounge with a grill and outdoor showers, and storage units. It’s located at 190 Academy Street between Summit and Baldwin, within walking distance to the Journal Square PATH train and offering easy access to restaurants, bars, and shopping.
“Nest Apartments are priced so today’s young professional can live autonomously, and with dignity,” said Keith Schwebel, CEO of developer KSNY.
These will be the area’s first private, non-subsidized new construction of its kind since the 1980s, with 122 fully furnished studio apartments that optimize every inch of the 300 sq. ft. space. The studios’ furniture transforms to meet your needs, so the micro-apartment functions like a home twice its size. Rents begin at under $1,300, and leasing is projected to begin in August 2018.
