A fast-growing Harrison neighborhood will soon be welcoming another project to the redevelopment party as an entire block is officially humming with construction.

On November 16, Advance Realty Investors celebrated the groundbreaking of its newest luxury residential building in Harrison’s Riverbend District. Located at 1100 South 5th Street, the company’s endeavor is being called “Block D” for now and is set to rise five stories and feature 399 studios, one-, and two-bedroom homes.

“With today’s groundbreaking we celebrate both the beginning of another exciting addition to the Harrison community, and the ongoing successful transformation of the Riverbend District,” said Peter J. Cocoziello, Advance Realty Investor’s founder and CEO. “We’re thrilled to be a part of the continued evolution and to bring another beautiful community to what has truly become a dynamic, one-of-a-kind destination for the Tri-State region.”

Located down the street from Red Bull Arena, Block D will include 72,000 square feet of amenity space consisting of multiple resident lounges, open-air courtyards, expansive roof decks, a two-story fitness center, and a swimming pool. The ground floor of the property will add approximately 5,000 square feet of retail space to the area.

“Alongside Advance, we’re very excited to be a part of today’s milestone and break ground on this highly-anticipated residential community,” said Harrison Mayor James A. Fife. “I especially look forward to welcoming its future residents and seeing the building come to life, bringing renewed energy to the Riverbend District and the beautiful town of Harrison.”

Advance Realty previously developed both the Cobalt Lofts and Steel Works complexes in Harrison, which has a burgeoning area along the banks of Newark Bay. The neighborhood has undergone a major transformation in recent years and other major projects like Harrison Yards loom on the horizon.

Upon its completion, the entirety of the Riverbend District is slated to include approximately 3,000 luxury apartments alongside 100,000 square feet of retail space over 35 acres. But in terms of the immediate future, the first apartments at Advance Realty’s Block D are slated for delivery during the second quarter of 2023.
