A Weehawken property owner is looking to bring a new development to the Hudson County township.
Mae Realty, which owns 193-199 Hackensack Plank Road, filed an application with the Weehawken Zoning Board of Adjustment to construct a new multi-family building on the premises. The proposed project would be five stories tall and include 48 units, according to a public notice from the end of January.
Four of the residential units would include two bedrooms and four would be studios, while the remainder would each contain one bedroom. The development, which would be situated around the corner from a bus stop serving more than a dozen New Jersey Transit lines, would include 33 parking spaces and be 56.5 feet tall.
Located at the corner of Hudson Street opposite the limits of Union City, 193-199 Hackensack Plank Road consists of two adjacent three-story structures that have largely contained apartments and office space. Back when this area was known as the “Embroidery Capital of the World,” these premises were home to the Automatic Lace and Embroidery Co.
A hearing regarding the application has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 11, at 7:00 p.m. Mae Realty is seeking Site Plan approval with variances related to density, height, building coverage, yard setback, driveway width, and the lack of a loading zone, according to the notice.
Note to readers: The dates that applications are scheduled to be heard by the Weehawken Zoning Board of Adjustment and other commissions are subject to change.
