A prominent Downtown Newark restaurant space that was previously occupied by a longtime local business is now occupied by a dining establishment again.
Last year, the Broad Street Cafe shut its doors after operating near Washington Park for decades. The business, which served breakfast and lunch on weekdays, had been the only restaurant of its kind in the immediate vicinity for years until the Deluxe Diner opened directly across the street back in 2016.
Now, food is once again being served in the space at 562 Broad Street. BulgogiZip, a Korean barbeque restaurant, opened for business last month. Unlike many other businesses that have been opening in Newark’s central business district recently, BulgogiZip is not part of a chain. The restaurant’s website shows that the business is open for lunch and dinner and serves items such as bulgogi beef bowls, shrimp teriyaki, and chicken wings.
The restaurant is situated adjacent to the Little Theatre, which also closed recently. Both buildings were acquired last year by Paramount Assets.
