A stately but empty property that goes back over a century has changed hands in Asbury Park as more redevelopment plans are in the works for the seaside city.
Barone Commercial Resources recently announced that a group of private investors have acquired a roughly 38,000-square-foot building in downtown Asbury Park for $2.95 million. The property, situated at 600 Main Street, was once the home of a YMCA that was founded in Asbury Park back in 1884.
The group had occupied the Main Street property since 1908. The building was most recently utilized by the Jersey Shore Adult Day Health Care Center, but that organization vacated the structure earlier this year.
Per the Coaster, the Adult Day Health Care Center relocated to a former Dollar Tree store down the street as part of legislation passed by the City Council. The buyers of the former YMCA property are expected to redevelop it, but no firm plans have been submitted yet.
