One of the landmarks at a popular South Jersey beach will start to slowly disappear in the coming months as Morey’s Piers in Wildwood continues to get a makeover.
The ownership behind the Jersey Shore spot recently announced in a Facebook post that the SkyCoaster has taken its last journey. The ride took people swinging more than 100 feet high over the Wildwood boardwalk during the summer months.
“As we say goodbye to this iconic ride, we’re already hard at work reimaging Adventure Pier so that there can be many more adventures to come in the future years,” the post read.
SkyCoaster had been a mainstay of the landscape at Morey’s Piers since the early 1990s, towering high over the other amusement rides nearby. The operator has not yet announced what could be taking the place of SkyCoaster.
The removal of SkyCoaster is the second notable move in a revamp at Morey’s Piers. The park’s Giant Ferris Wheel has also been temporarily taken down as part of a refurbishment project.
