A church based in Mullica Hill is slated to expand to Vineland in a big way as a former Sears outlet store will be converted into a new house of worship.
True North Church, which is a non-denominational Christian congregation that was founded in 2006, has purchased a long-vacant Sears department store in Vineland at the intersection of Landis Avenue and Delsea Drive. The church plans to transform it into a second location that will include community space.
The congregation purchased the 75,000-square-foot building on Route 47 for $2.4 million last year, gaining approvals for their church facility from the Vineland Planning Board back in August. The new digs will allow for over 900 capacity in the main auditorium, with the church slated to offer youth programs out of the space as well.

The sprawling property has sat vacant since 2017, when the once mighty Sears closed one of their stores that operated out of the property. The existing surface parking lot that once hosted the store’s customers will soon be used for church patrons.
True North Church expects to open their Vineland campus in the fall of 2026 and is soliciting a legacy offering through their website to raise funds towards completion of the project.
